Serving Fresh, Local Food Daily!
In our kitchens, taste buds come first.
We know food, and we're committed to putting the best on that spork. That means great-tasting, locally sourced meals that hit the spot nutritionally. (All while meeting the complexities of state and federal requirements, which is no small feat.)
Together we work to support our students.
We are excited for the 2024-2025 school year and look forward to the following to help us offer better, more delicious, scratch cooked meals for our students.
- More chef inspired meals from our own, Chef Adrian
- Increasing our locally grown & procured selections
- Continuing to offer salad bars at every school daily
- Adding more freshly prepared menu items
- Facilitating more farm to school events
- Improving equipment in our kitchens
- Supporting the professional development of our food service team
- Continuing to offer free breakfast & lunch to all students

We proudly announce that Western Placer Unified School District received a Healthy Meals Incentives Recognition Award for making improvements to the nutritional quality of our district’s school meals.
Awarded by the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Food and Nutrition Service (FNS) in collaboration with Action for Healthy Kids (AFHK), Western Placer USD received the Innovation in the Preparation of School Meals Award for our work in introducing several new freshly prepared menu offerings for our students!
Innovation in the Preparation of School Meals Award winners incorporated new menu items that are prepared from scratch using a local agricultural product or USDA food in accordance with the USDA recipe standardization process and incorporated student engagement.
AFHK is recognizing school districts to spotlight innovative practices, student and community engagement activities, and strategies schools have used to provide meals that are consistent with the 2020-2025 Dietary Guidelines for Americans – all as part of a cooperative agreement to develop and implement the USDA FNS’s Healthy Meals Incentives Initiative. Healthy school meals are an essential part of the school environment and a proven tool for improving a child’s health, growth, development, and educational outcomes. AFHK and USDA are committed to working together to strengthen school meals and investment in a bright future for our children.

- Strategically invest in kitchen facilities and equipment to enhance our meal preparation capabilities.
