Residency Verification

Western Placer Unified School District is committed to maintaining accurate student records and ensuring that students are enrolled in accordance with district residency requirements. In alignment with Board policy and applicable state law, parents and guardians must provide proof of residency when enrolling a student in a District school.

Electronic Address Verification

As part of the enrollment process, the District uses a secure electronic verification system to compare the address provided in a student’s record with verified residential address data. This process helps:

  • Confirm residency more efficiently

  • Reduce the need for families to submit multiple documents

  • Identify potentially altered or fraudulent documentation

  • Support consistent and equitable enrollment practices

If an address cannot be verified electronically, the District may request additional documentation from the parent or guardian. Documentation used to establish residency is maintained as part of the student’s required enrollment record.

Additional Review

If an address cannot be verified or questions remain about the information provided, the District may request additional documentation or conduct further review in accordance with Board policy and California law. Families will be notified if additional information is needed or if residency cannot be confirmed.

Residency verification is based solely on whether a student meets the requirements to attend a District school. The District does not ask about the citizenship or immigration status of a student or their family members when determining residency.
