Kindergarten: 2026-2027

All the required documents for registration that you will need to complete are provided below as a reference and are also included within the online registration.  If you need assistance completing the online forms, please contact your child’s school.  If you are having technical difficulty accessing the online registration system, please contact the Technology Department at helpdesk@wpusd.org. We are happy to help!

STEP 2 - REQUIRED FORMS:

Complete each form below. Please note, these documents are included within the online registration (Step 1). They are also listed below for your convenience. These forms are required and need to be submitted within the online registration or turned in to your child's home school (for submission instructions, see Step 4).

1. Special Programs/Health Concerns Form English/Spanish - this form is required for all students, even if your child does not participate in any Special Education Programs
2. *If applicable for your student* Medication Administration Form  - English/Spanish
3. *If applicable for your student* Medical Special Accommodations Form - English | SpanishSTEP 3 - REQUIRED PERSONAL DOCUMENTS:

Submitting the following documents is required as part registration process. You have the option to upload your documents through the online registration process (Step 1) or turn in copies to your child's school office. 

1. Proof of Age: Any of the following are acceptable - Original or certified copy of birth certificate; statement by the local registrar or county recorder certifying the date of birth; baptism certificate; passport, or when none of the foregoing is obtainable; an affidavit of the parent, guardian or custodian, or any other appropriate means of proving the child's age
    
2. Residency Verification Requirements: All parents or legal guardians must provide two (2) forms of residency verification in their name. These documents must be current (dated within the last 60 days unless otherwise noted).  

Please provide one (1) document from Category 1 and one (1) document from Category 2:
Category 1:

• Property tax payment receipts  
• Rental property contract, lease, or rent payment receipts  
• Utility service contract, statement, or payment receipt (Gas, Electric, Water, or Cable)  
• A letter from a lessor and a signed rental agreement stating that utilities are included  

Category 2:

• Pay stub  
• Voter registration  
• Correspondence from a government agency  
• Declaration under penalty of perjury of residency executed by the parent or guardian of the student (complete Form E5111.1 District Residency Affidavit Verification of Student Residency – copy to Superintendent’s Office - available by request)

3. Proof of Immunizations: Copy of Immunization Record. Your child will not be allowed to start school without proper immunization documentation.

Required Immunizations:

• DTP - 5 doses (4 doses are acceptable if the 4^th dose has been given on or after the 4^th birthday)
• Polio – 4 doses (3 doses are acceptable if the 3^rd dose has been given on or after the 4^th birthday)
• Hepatitis B – 3 doses
• MMR – 2 doses
• Varicella – 2 doses

STEP 4 - SUBMITTING YOUR REGISTRATION:

FAMILIES HAVE TWO OPTIONS FOR SUBMITTING REQUIRED FORMS (STEP 2) AND PERSONAL DOCUMENTS (STEP 3):

OPTION 1: FULLY ONLINE

• Download the Required Forms listed in Step 2, save them to your device, and upload them in the online registration system.
• Upload your Personal Documents (Step 3) in the same system. You may scan or take clear photos of these documents.
• If you upload all required forms and documents online and submit, your registration is complete.

OPTION 2: PARTLY ONLINE / PARTLY IN PERSON

• Complete the online portion of New Student Registration (Step 1) first.
• Print the Required Forms from Step 2, fill them out, and turn them in to your child’s home school.
• Bring copies of your Personal Documents (Step 3) to the school as well.
• If you choose not to upload documents online, you must bring your completed forms and all personal documents to the school office to complete your child's registration.

 

Q: If my child is currently in TK, do I need to re-register them for Kindergarten?
A: No. Your child will be automatically enrolled in their home school. Note, this may be different than the school they attended TK. Please contact your child's school for any clarification. 

Q: What are the start and end times for Kinder classes?
A: Approximately 8:15am - 1:40pm. Some start times vary slightly depending on site. Please contact your child's school site for specific start times. All classes end at 1:40pm. 

Q: What do I do if I want to sign my child up for the Dual Language Immersion Program?
A: Please indicate interest in the Dual Language Immersion Program when completing the online registration process (step 1).

To apply to the program:

• Log into your Parent Portal account on PowerSchool
• Clink the link to Forms on the lower left side of your screen
• Click on the General Forms tab
• Click on the Dual Language Program Application
• Check the box to sign up for the program
• Make sure you click submit

Q: How will we find out if we are selected for the Dual Language Immersion Program? Is it first come, first serve?
A: The Dual Language Immersion Program will be based on a lottery selection process. Every completed application turned in by the due date will be included in the lottery. Confirmation of selected students will be communicated after the lottery process is complete. 

Q: When can I begin the registration process for the 2026-2027 school year?
A: Online registration opens January 13, 2026 at 10:00am. 
 
Q: Do I have to turn in my complete packet by a certain date?
A: Priority registration is due by February 27, 2026 at 3:30pm.* 
*PLEASE NOTE: We will still accept registration after this date.
 
Q: What if my registration is incomplete (i.e. missing documents, birth certificate, etc.)? Can I still turn it in to reserve a spot for my child?
A: No, incomplete applications will not be accepted.
 
Q: What if I do not want my child to attend our designated home school?
A: You may complete an intra-district transfer request. Online request forms are available on the district website. Note: You still need to submit your registration to your child’s home school. Questions regarding intra-district transfers may be directed to your child's school.
