Student Wellness Committee & Policy
Western Placer Unified School District is committed to the optimal development of every student. The District believes that for students to have the opportunity to achieve personal, academic, developmental and social success, we need to create positive, safe and health-promoting learning environments at every level, in every setting, throughout the school year.
Student Wellness Committee Meetings
Western Placer Unified School District invites parents, teachers, students, administrators, health professionals, school food services staff, board members, and members of the community to participate in meetings focused on our Student Wellness Policy.
The Student Wellness Committee is a team of students, staff, parents, and community members working together to improve health and well-being in our schools. The committee guides, recommends, and helps implement wellness initiatives that support a healthy school environment.
A healthy school environment supports student learning and overall well-being. The Student Wellness Policy helps our district create and maintain an action plan for:
-
Nutrition education and nutrition promotion
-
Physical activity and safe routes programs
-
School food services
-
PE, health, and nutrition education
-
Student health and nursing services
-
School environment and wellness programs
-
Parent, student, and community involvement
At our wellness meetings, stakeholders are invited to share their perspectives and help ensure the policy continues to meet the needs of our students.
We hope you will join us at our next meeting.
