Solar & Energy Efficiency Projects

Western Placer Unified School District is continuing a multi-year effort to improve energy efficiency, reduce long-term utility costs, and reinvest savings back into school facilities that directly support students and staff.

What’s Already Been Completed

At the end of last school year, the district launched a broader energy efficiency initiative across multiple campuses. As part of this work:

  • Interior lighting has been upgraded at many schools
  • Classrooms and common spaces now benefit from brighter, more energy-efficient lighting
  • These improvements reduce electricity use and ongoing operational costs

Solar Parking Structure Projects

Design work for solar parking structures is complete, State review and approvals are currently in process, and projects will be moving forward into the construction phase at select campuses.

The following schools were identified based on campus layout and their ability to benefit most from solar parking structures:

  • Twelve Bridges High School (TBHS)
  • Twelve Bridges Middle School (TBMS)
  • Lincoln High School (LHS)
  • Foskett Ranch Elementary School (FRE)
  • Twelve Bridges Elementary School (TBE)

These sites were identified by SitlogiQ, the district’s contracted energy services provider.

Why Solar Parking Structures?

In addition to generating clean energy, these projects will:

  • Help offset electricity costs
  • Provide shaded parking for students, staff, and families
  • Support long-term operational savings that can be redirected toward facility improvements across the district

Construction Timeline Overview

To minimize disruption and plan around key school events, construction will occur in phases:

January – June 2026
  • Twelve Bridges High School (TBHS)
  • Twelve Bridges Middle School (TBMS)
  • Lincoln High School (LHS)

Construction at TBHS and LHS will begin first, with work scheduled to be completed ahead of graduation, when parking availability is especially important for families and guests.

Spring 2026

Foskett Ranch Elementary School (FRE)

Summer 2026

Twelve Bridges Elementary School (TBE)

Construction schedules may be adjusted as needed to account for weather, state approvals, and site-specific conditions. Updates will be shared as projects progress.

HVAC Improvements at TBMS

A fortunate outcome of our energy efficiency project is the ability to address long-standing HVAC challenges at Twelve Bridges Middle School. HVAC reliability has been an ongoing concern at this campus, and this project allows the district to move forward with a comprehensive system upgrade.

Design work for the HVAC improvements is complete, and the project is now moving through the required state approval process. Once approved, this upgrade will improve system reliability, comfort, and efficiency for students and staff.
